This is Noah Sherman.
Noah M. Sherman (b. 2002) is a composer, pianist, and environmental engineer currently working as a water resources engineer. His compositional style has been described as vibrant and colorful, meeting at a crossroad between traditional and more contemporary sounds.
Noah had his work Common Thread for violin and piano premiered at Carnegie Hall (the Weill Recital Hall) in April of 2024.
Over the years, Noah has had the opportunity to work on several projects contributing to the promotion of new music in the 21st century. In 2023, he was commissioned by flautist and composer Jaclyn Breeze to write a short piano-flute duet entitled Autumn Breeze. Most recently, he was commissioned to write a solo work for the tres, a 3-stringed instrument of Cuban origin. This was a part of an ongoing project by tres performer Rolando Gomez, with the intent to build repertoire for the instrument.
Current projects include working with Albanian-based pianist Synjona Paplekaj to transcribe and distribute traditional Albanian music, particularly that of her father and Albanian folk musician Syk Paplekaj. As a part of this project, Noah was tasked with writing a solo piano work that includes quotations and transcriptions of Paplekaj’s melodies. Noah is also actively working on a film project with Olijinz Studios as a part of their film scoring team.
Noah was born and raised on Long Island, NY and currently resides in Syracuse, NY. He received his bachelor’s degree in music composition and environmental engineering from Syracuse University where he studied composition under Natalie Draper, Nicolas Scherzinger, and Loren Loiacono.
